Wooden stairs

I was looking at some of the wooden stairs of the site. I’ve been debating with myself as to what kind of wood would be the best to use for the stairs as well as for the finish.

I was thinking of something durable to give the house a dark rich look – so that it matches with my other furniture. My debate was still between Redwood, Oak and Mahogany.

Do you have any other suggestions – it doesn’t really have to be darkwood, it just needs to be durable enough and beautiful in color

Hi judithonchomba,

I think you have fine choice of wood in mind. There’s a variety of wood that we use on our stairs all of the durable.

In addition to the wood that you’ve mentioned you should also consider Maple, Pine, Hemlock and Poplar. All these trees provide a good beautiful stair finish.
